High school baseball information

Weekly Schedule

Practices will be weekdays from 3:45-5:45 on non-game days.

Doubleheaders, if scheduled, will be played on Saturdays. We are off on Sundays.

Please allow an additional 20-30 minutes for field maintenance after practice and home games.

Please arrive 90 minutes before all games to allow for warm-ups.

The school may not always provide bus transportation to away games. Please make necessary arrangements.

Players who can drive need to notify the coach if they are taking other players to away games.

We will be off the first 5 days of spring break. There will be voluntary practice Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of spring break.

Attendance

Players need at least 5 practices before playing in a game per CHSAA rules.

One missed practice or being late may result in not starting or playing in the next game.

One missed game or being late may result in sitting out for two games.

Student-athletes ineligible due to poor grades should not expect to start or play in the next game after their ineligibility period ends.

After-hours, other school-related events, or taking days off to catch up on schoolwork are excusable.

Illness

Do not come to practice if you are feeling unwell.

Coaches will send players home if they are sick.

Take at least 2-3 days off.

Symptoms such as sore throat, headache, achy body, or high temperature are reasons to stay home.

Tryouts

Tryouts will be conducted over three successive days, starting on the first day of spring baseball.

Participating during summer, fall, and winter workouts helps us determine skill sets. It is important for incoming freshmen to participate as early and as often as possible.

The following metrics will be taken during tryouts:

  • 60-yard dash
  • Home to 1B
  • Velocity from SS to 1B
  • Velocity from RF to 3B
  • Exit velocity
  • Grip strength

Graduation

If baseball is a priority, please schedule graduation parties around baseball. Typically, regionals are scheduled the same week as graduation. In years past, graduation ceremonies have taken place the night before regionals, and we have had to travel several hours away the next day.
